On March 06, 2013 Vince Pawis Sr. of Nobel, Ontario was awarded the Order of Ontario for his spiritual and cultural guidance leadership working within the corrections system and for his success in developing and implementing Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal Youth at Risk programing services that deter Youth at Risk from entering the corrections system. Vince Pawis Sr. was also in a leadership role in the development and implementation of Elder Assisted Aboriginal Circle parole hearings, this process allows Aboriginal offenders to be heard in a traditional setting that reflects their cultural values.
On June 23, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, presented the Meritorious Service Decorations (Civil Division medal to Vince Pawis Sr. which recognizes individuals who have performed an exceptional deed or activity that brought honour to their community or to Canada.
